A plaster casting of one of the victims of the 79 AD eruption.  He and many others were instantly buried in ash and died quickly from the superheated gases.  Over the years, much of the body disappeared leaving a cavity.  When this was found, plaster was poured in to produce an accurate casting of the indivudial.  His belt and cloths mark this fellow as a slave.
